Why Adulting?
I married my sweetheart 25+ years ago. I was 18 at the time. I graduated and had a full time job. I was definately an adult…right? WRONG!
I had no idea how many things I was clueless about. There were a lot of things my mom had tried to teach me. I just didn’t see the importance of it, until I lived 800 miles away! I am blessed that we lived close to my in-laws. My mom-in-law was awesome! She and an older neighbor helped fill in all the gaps I had in my journey to being an adult.
Can I be your neighbor?
My mom-in-law and neighbor were an invaluable resource to me. They allowed me to ask silly questions, and tried not to laugh as they explained the many times obvious answers. Having a sounding board to ask goofy questions and talk out different scenerios is vital to becoming a productive adult. I hope that this site provides a safe space to people who are seeking answers. I don’t care how silly the question, if you are brave enough to ask, I will take the time to provide an honest and helpful answer. I know that not everyone has caring adults that they can relate to. Sometimes, the adults are absent. Sometimes there’s a personality conflict. Sometimes there just isn’t time to ask questions and have discussions.
Get a haircut and get a real job!
That’s the sum total of many adults’ advice to kids. Adults often have a hard time relating to adolesent problems. I love kids of all ages. Kids are some of my favorite kind of people! As my kids are transitioning into adulthood, I realized how many of their friends didn’t have a safe adult in their lives. I hope that this site provides that for all their friends…and for you too. Hopefully, in others’ questions you can find some of the answers you need to be a successful adult!
